The Puzzle: Blog

We were pleased to moderate last night’s #isedchat on Twitter, discussing hiring trends in independent schools, among other topics. The hour flew by, with a constant influx of insightful comments (and great tips for job-seekers!) from participants. We began with an observation from the work we’ve done recently: that we’ve seen a growing number of schools talk about innovation and innovators, and we asked participants to share what innovation means at their schools. That invited a slew of side-conversations: overcoming the fear of change and buzzwords like “innovation,” along with the idea of maintaining a portfolio that demonstrates how you are innovative in the classroom; balancing implementing new ideas with the daily workload of teachers; underscoring the importance of professional etiquette throughout all aspects of a job search; and offering ideas to aid new job seekers.

The conversation was flowing. It was enlightening to hear different perspectives from educators across the country, and empowering when we all came together around a topic. You can read the full chat below.
