CS&A Year in Review: 2017
It's been another year for the books! In looking back over the year as it draws to a close, we couldn't be happier with how 2017 unfolded for our company. And, as always, we’re happiest to continue nurturing our wonderful relationships with educators, clients, and candidates alike. Let's take a look at some highlights from 2017.
January
January began with our third-annual FORUM/Diversity on January 28 in Philadelphia. Spurred by the drive to be more involved in the conversation about diversity and inclusion in independent schools, and encouraged by our clients’ enthusiastic reception of our previous two events, we kicked off our conference season with a joint hiring and professional development event. From keynote speaker Dr. Cornel West to the discussion panels led by our founding faculty, to the quality of interviews that occurred, FORUM/Diversity was a huge success. We’re looking forward to our fourth-annual event — now two days! — on January 26-27, 2018!
February
February saw another snowy winter in Boston, but that didn’t stop us from hosting three hiring events. In back-to-back-to-back weeks, we were in Los Angeles, Boston (which still went on despite Boston being hit by a blizzard the day before!), and Atlanta.
March
Not to be outdone by February, March also found us hosting three hiring conferences in some not-so-close locations. The very first weekend we hosted our LINK@NAIS event in Baltimore, in addition to regional events in San Francisco and New York City in the second half of the month.
April
Our eighth and final hiring conference was held in Washington, D.C. at the start of the month. Another whirlwind conference season behind us! The first few signs of spring in Boston were a welcome sight.
May
May was an exciting month for CS&A as our office moved to a new location on High Street a half-block from the Greenway in downtown Boston. Our staff worked diligently to keep all operations running smoothly during the transition and to get us ready for the summer months. We already feel at home in our new space.
June
June saw one of our proudest moments of the year: our first-ever Women's Institute on June 16 in Boston. With two fabulous keynote speakers and an outstanding group of faculty members, the event focused on professional development and mentoring for women at all stages in their careers in independent schools. It was truly a special day, and we can't wait to host our second event on June 8, 2018.
July
In July, we visited summer programs at client schools across the Northeast, meeting prospective teachers who have already demonstrated a commitment to education.
August
After many months of research, designing, and testing, we launched a redesigned CandidateConnect system. The new system is a sleek, intuitive, user-friendly environment that we're so excited to offer our candidates.
September
September began with our annual Summit, where we reflected on what worked this past year and set goals for the year ahead. We returned to the office refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for the recruitment season ahead.
October
In October, our school visit and college recruitment programs ran full-steam ahead. Over the course of the fall, we visited nearly 275 independent schools in 28 states; interviewed prospective teachers at over 60 colleges and universities; held 19 virtual interview days at colleges; exhibited at almost 30 school fairs, panels, and consortia; and sponsored and exhibited at over two dozen association and organization conferences across the country.
November
In November, we continued visiting schools and colleges, and we prepared for our second-ever boarding school-specific hiring event, CS&A@TABS in Boston. We ran features of CS&A staff members who have worked at or attended boarding schools, demonstrating the unique and wonderful aspects of boarding school life and work.
December
We kicked off the 2018 hiring conference season a few weeks earlier than usual, with CS&A@TABS on December 1. If that event was any indication, the seven remaining conferences in 2018 are going to be fantastic. We're looking forward to making the match in the coming months!
We ended December with family and friends at our annual holiday party, and we’re taking some time off around the holidays to celebrate a wonderful year. We’ll be back in the new year ready to greet 2018 with open arms.
