Charlie Britton
Charlie is a Senior Consultant for the Domestic Head of School Practice and a Coach in our Leadership Coaching Practice.
Previous Experience
Charlie joined CS&A from McDonogh School (MD) where he served as Head of School from 2007-2018. Before McDonogh, he served for five years as head of school at Casady School (OK). He began his career in education as a teacher and coach at Trinity-Pawling School (NY) and has served as English department chair at the St. Mark's School of Texas and head of the senior school at Shady Side Academy (PA). While at McDonogh, he led a transformative strategic plan focused on people, place, and program, raised over $100 million, and was instrumental in creating Folio, a professional development tool used by over 170 independent schools.
With over 35 years of independent school experience, Charlie serves as a Senior Consultant at CS&A and offers head of school coaching and strategic planning facilitation. He has served as board chair of Folio Collaborative and as a trustee of the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS).
Education & Interests
Charlie holds a B.A. from Lake Forest and an M.A. in English from Middlebury. He enjoys golf and fishing and is a voracious reader. He is a native of Southport, Maine where his wife, Jen, is Director of the Southport Memorial Library. He has two children: Annie, a NASA Fellow and graduate student at Johns Hopkins, and Trevor, a senior data analyst in Boston.
