Yes, you read that correctly.

The statistics don't lie. The shortage of women in the leadership pipeline at independent schools is alarming. Our schools are full of strong women who are dedicating their lives to educating children, yet research shows that the majority of leadership roles are filled by males. And leadership roles aside, research also tells us that most women don't see themselves as equal in skill or potential as their male counterparts, and often don't step up to grow their careers.

Clearly there is room for improvement in the realm of women working in education. While moving the needle will require work in many areas, CS&A is starting with creating a professional and personal development opportunity with our Women's Institute.

We're inviting all educators to join us in Boston and sound the alarm at this event designed to encourage more women to see themselves as leaders and push themselves further. Whether coming as a veteran leader interested in mentoring, or an attendee at the early stage of your career looking for guidance, our Women's Institute has value for everyone in that it is meant to help women grow in confidence to be the best versions of themselves.

Sessions will cover topics ranging from the mentor/mentee relationship to femininity and intersectionality in the workplace, and more. Check out this year's schedule with sessions and faculty leaders.

This year we're excited to welcome two dynamic keynote speakers. Dr. Karen E. Eshoo is current Head of School at King School, a PreK-12 coeducational day school in Stamford, CT. Karen began her tenure in 2018. Prior to King, she served as Head of School at Vistamar School (El Segundo, CA), and spent over 20 years in teaching and leadership in independent schools including Sacred Heart Schools (Atherton, CA) and Lick-Wilmerding High School (San Francisco, CA).

Nicole A. DuFauchard has been the Head of School of The Advent School, a coeducational PreK-6 day school in Boston in since 2013. Before Advent, she served as Director of Multicultural Affairs at Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC). Nicole has spent the last 20 years exploring equity and access in education. She serves on boards and committees to engage in equity and justice work with schools across the country, and mentors faculty of color and women aspiring for leadership roles.

Both women and their allies in the education community are welcome to attend. Participants do not need to be candidates with CS&A. (Please note, this event does not feature a hiring component like our other conferences.)
