New Employee Welcome: Rachel Merchant
Meet another new member of our team, Rachel Merchant, Operations Associate, Placement/Search Groups.
Rachel provides crucial front office support and is a rock star when it comes to assisting schools or candidates that call in or email with questions. No two days are alike for Rachel as she helps with a variety of tasks that make our core work possible. In addition, Rachel also supports the work of our Placement and Search Groups.
Learn some fun facts about Rachel as we welcome her to Carney Sandoe!
1. Describe your interest in education.
I’m excited about the younger generation and want to see them succeed, which can begin with education. I’m rooting for their school life to be fulfilling and enriching, and I’m happy to be part of a team that helps to accomplish that through teacher placements.
2. Describe your experience with schools.
I’ve taught color guard at several high schools and universities in Louisiana and Texas. My time with a private university in Louisiana was inspiring; I’ve never seen so many college students be wholly themselves and have full confidence in the paths they were taking.
3. In one sentence, describe your role at Carney Sandoe.
My role as Operations Associate supports the Search and Placement Groups in their efforts with schools and candidates, getting a different experience each day as I’m able to jump in where needed.
4. Give two fun facts about you.
I have a degree in English Literature.
I’ve never been into sports but quarantine got me very into the NBA – I was so invested that I cried from excitement during the final game.
5. Outside of work, what are you usually doing?
I’m usually trying different coffee shops and reading a book.
6. What were your 15 minutes of fame?
I performed Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships and was a World Class Finalist twice!
7. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Gonzales, Louisiana, a small town between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
8. What are you looking forward to in your work at Carney Sandoe?
I'm looking forward to learning more about the intricacies of independent school education and getting to work with schools, teachers, and team members to make great matches.
